AUBURN, CA. The 2010 Gold Country Fair has been recognized in several categories in the annual Western Fair Association (WFA) Achievement Awards competition. Five first and two second place wins were chalked up by the Fair’s marketing programs for the 2009 “Where Memories Begin” Fair. WFA is composed of member fairs and large special events in the western states of Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, Texas, Minnesota, Indiana, New Mexico, Alaska and Hawaii, plus three major shows in Canada. The Gold Country Fair competed against other Fairs of similar size. Top honors went to the Fair for display advertising, their entry handbook, the entertainment brochure and schedule, and their radio commercial. They were awarded the Best New Idea – Marketing for the AT&T telephone book map hunt promotion. Additionally the Fair was awarded second place for outdoor advertising and their advertising postcard. Greg Hegwer, CEO of the Gold Country Fair, picked up the awards at the WFA convention in Reno. “It’s fun to be recognized by our peers in the Fair industry, but it is most important to put on a great Fair that our community participates in and enjoys.” Looking forward to another award-winning Fair, the 2010 event is sure to catch the eye of the judges in the next competition. “Bee a Kid Again” is the new theme, that will feature the fun characters and events of childhood, and encourage everyone to enjoy the Fair like they did as a kid. The Gold Country Fair will be held September 9-12. For more information visit www.GoldCountryFair .com and follow them on Facebook.
